A Gold Medalist with a master’s in Music, and equipped with a Bachelor’s Degree in Deaf Education, Ritika Sahni feels fortunate to pursue both her passions, that of a Singer-Performer and a Disability Campaigner. Ritika Sahni is a trainer and consultant in Disability Inclusion. She has been a special educator, and communication therapist and for the last 30 years has been teaching, giving lectures and conducting sensitization workshops for numerous academic institutions in the country and corporates like Loreal, Tata Realty, Pepsico, Bangalore Airport, CISF, Indigo Airlines, IIT, Yes Bank, National Trust, Air India, to mention a few.
Under the banner of TRINAYANI which she founded in 2006, Ritika Sahni conducts interactive workshops, Publishes Books containing Illustrated Literature, Poetry, Broadcasts Radio Shows, Creates award-winning Educational/ Awareness Films, curates and organizes Group Activities and events of Inclusive nature in the public domain, presents and sings in their recent offering: THE LEARNING FACTORY” a musical puppet play, to campaign for Diversity and Inclusion in Education.
Along with a specialist she designed and conducted the first of its kind, year-long disability awareness campaign titled “CELEBRATING DIVERSITY-The Difference is in Knowing” for 4 Delhi Public schools in the country for the academic year 2015-16. The Trinayani poem “I am Special, so are you” celebrating diversity was included in the English Communicative Main Course unit 2C of CBSE of 10th standard.
The Trinayani team initiated, designed and created 3 Electoral Awareness films and brochures for the Chief Electoral Officer, Maharashtra ahead of the Lok Sabha Elections 2019 and successfully executed the Count Me In the campaign for Census 2011. Check out the campaign over here.
For the “Include Vidya” Campaign of CBM India she wrote, composed, sang and shot a music video titled “Sab Ki hai dharti” celebrating Inclusive Education in India.
As one of her important efforts, she started the SPARSH FOOT SPA in Mumbai, employing Trained Blind Reflexology Therapists.
Interestingly, being a professional Music Maker and a Singer-Performer, having a vast experience in the entertainment industry of Bollywood, Ritika also combines her passion for performing arts and her music skills to promote a more Tolerant and Inclusive society by Leading a Popular Music Band, where all participant musicians are mostly Blind Persons or with some other disabilities, which besides their commissioned show also provides monthly voluntary Pehli Baarish, performances to Orphanages, Homes for Destitute, Old-Age Homes, Juvenile Correctional Centers or other relevant Social Gatherings.
Along with a colleague she has developed a unique, of its kind, entertaining and educational GAME KIT comprising 6 thrilling card games ‘Towards Inclusion’ 6-in-1 card game kits to familiarize non-disabled schools and communities to work toward an inclusive society. Ritika is also Vice President of WICCI Arts Leadership Council, Maharashtra chapter. Among others, she has been awarded the Rex Karamveer Puraskar, a Global Award for Social Justice and Citizen Action by Icongo. N March 2020, she was recognized as the Top Global Diversity & Inclusion Leaders awards function by World HRD Congress and ET Now.
